Speech Therapy

Improving communication and boosting confidence

Children start speaking at different ages. While a few are actively expressive by the time they turn 1 year old, others take a few more months to start speaking and understanding words. However, in some cases, children are unable to articulate words and sounds even at later stages. This is where Speech Language Therapy helps.

Speech Therapy identifies and treats various disorders such as:

  • Articulation disorders

  • Aphasia

  • Cognitive-communication disorders

  • Receptive disorders

  • Expressive disorders

  • Resonance disorders

Speech Therapy can take place in a group or through one-on-one sessions depending on the type of speech disorder. It involves activities as well as simple exercises to make sounds, play, read books, identify pictures, etc.

As is the case with other therapies, early intervention is key for age-appropriate language development without stress.
